OPPO has been busy releasing high-end phones, as of recent. Releasing the Reno Ace 2 and Find X2 Lite in the same month. But in Indonesia, the company is releasing the OPPO A12 — a budget phone that costs IDR 2,499,000(~P8K) only. But at that price point, what exactly are you getting?
Starting with the good things, OPPO A12 features a diamond-pattern on the back (aka 3D Diamond Blaze Design) that makes it stand out among the competition. It comes in Blue and Black colors which can already be purchased through several retailers and online channels in Indonesia. The battery is rated 4230mAh which is above compared to today’s standards. The audio jack is present and even features Dirac Audio for better, well, audio quality. Furthermore, there’s a fingerprint scanner on the back and an option to unlock with face recognition via the 5MP selfie cam.
What about the not-so-good things? For starters, at the core is a MediaTek Helio P35. At this price point, we feel like OPPO could’ve given us a Snapdragon version. But anyway, that’s paired with either 3GB/32GB or 4GB/64GB. As of writing, there’s no pricing yet for the lower-end model. The 6.22″ LCD comes with HD+ resolution and a waterdrop notch, however, it’s covered in Gorilla Glass 3. You only get two main cameras here — 13MP and 2MP, with the lens for depth-sensing. OPPO A12 is shipping with Android 9 based on Color OS 6.1 out of the box, for some reason.
