Xiaomi Mi 11: QHD 120Hz

The first Snapdragon 888 device is here, and it’s the Xiaomi Mi 11. During the launch event, the company announced only one smartphone, foregoing the “Pro” and “standard” identification of devices. For now, it’s hard to tell if other manufacturers will follow suit as both OnePlus and Samsung are launching three models of their respective flagships. Nevertheless, Xiaomi thinks Mi 11 is the only phone you need in a flagship, and we can’t argue.

The Mi 11 packs the flagship Snapdragon 888 from Qualcomm and gets paired with 8GB/128GB, 8GB/256GB, and 12GB/256GB. Respectively, you’re looking at prices of CNY 3999(~Php29,300), CNY 4299(~Php31,500), and CNY 4699(~Php34,500). What’s interesting, however, is that you can get the device in five colors but two different finishes. The Smoke Purple and Khaki boast of leather shells, while the black, white, and blue are of standard matte slate. Though Xiaomi’s 2021 flagship weighs 196, it’s still thin at 8.06mm only.

Xiaomi Mi 11

Xiaomi took the time to introduce the outstanding display of the Mi 11 that apparently is “the most expensive screen in the industry” and has broken 13 new records in DisplayMate rating. The Mi 11 is now using a 6.81″ 2K or 1440p screen with four-curved AMOLED for a more premium look and feel. While the company claims up to 1500nits of blinding brightness, some reports state that it actually goes up to 1700nits. And much like the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, the screen is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus, which is considered the most durable protector against shatters. As for the rest, there’s an ultra-smooth 120Hz and ultra-fast 480Hz touch rate.

Mi 11 continues to improve on audio experience by including stereo dual-speakers, in collaboration with Harman Kardon. The company claims there’s 3D vibration to go along when watching or playing, and Bluetooth capability now lets you share audio and connect to two Bluetooth devices at the same time.

Xiaomi Mi 11

Battery-wise, the Mi 11 is using 4600mAh, which the company claims enough to last at least a day. But should that be not enough for what you need, there’s 55W fast-charging here as well as 50W wireless. From zero to 100, that’s about 45 mins and 53 mins, respectively. Furthermore, you can take advantage of 10W reverse wireless.

As for the charging brick, it’s true that Xiaomi won’t be including it on the standard version of the Mi 11. For now, this is restricted to China and may have a different release globally. In fact, Xiaomi is going to give 55W GaN charger in a separate box for free if the buyers ask for it.

Lastly, the Mi 11 boasts of a 108MP main sensor, a 13MP ultrawide lens, and a 5MP for telephoto and macro purposes. Support for 8K video recording is present, but the 20W wide-angle selfie is still stuck at 1080p.

One notable feature of the Mi 11 is the ability to monitor heart rate through the fingerprint scanner embedded on the display.

Xiaomi Mi 11 will go on sale in China starting January 1, 2021.
