
MetaAI is still not available in Europe, despite Meta’s launch announcement. The European Commission is still reviewing whether it complies with EU rules.
As of now, the European Commission is waiting for Meta to submit a risk assessment, which is a must under the Digital Services Act (DSA).
A Commission spokesperson confirmed that parts of the AI-powered assistant fall under the Digital Services Act (DSA), which ensures online safety and transparency.
With that being said, it remains on hold in the region until the Commission completes its review.
Meta stated it has been transparent with EU regulators and is confident it meets the rules.
The company remains in discussions with the Commission as it progresses with the launch.
Meta plans to roll out their new AI assistant across 41 European countries, including those in the European Union, as well as 21 overseas territories.
