Earlier this year, McLaren announced that its partnership with OnePlus has ended, which meant no more special edition OnePlus phones until who knows how long. Realme, on the other end, which happens to be under BBK Electronics as well, OnePlus’ parent company, is looking to release its 2021 flagship phone in a few months. According to initial reports, the codename Realme Race will be powered by the new Snapdragon 888 SoC. A leaked photo was shared as well, revealing the design of the device. However, a new image popped up, which looks to be a limited edition.Â
Based on the somewhat high-quality render, the Realme Race McLaren Edition is far from the rounded-camera module of the standard model. Given that it’s a special edition, in partnership with McLaren, that’s to be expected. However, we can’t deny the similarities between the Realme Race ME and the OnePlus One Concept. And if you look closely, the back panel features a textured finish, which might be of leather material.
Even with the high-quality photo, there’s one thing that looks very skeptical. Taking a look at the left edge of the device — it appears as if a sticker was placed on top of the back panel. You can definitely see the imperfect edges that continue to the bottom of the phone.Â
There’s no specific release date yet for Realme Race, but the company’s VP in China has been teasing its upcoming phone for a while now, leading us to believe that it’s going to be sooner than later.
