The MWC 2016 event has had a lot of really interesting things to show off, from VR wearable devices to smartphones, to other various devices, the event itself had a lot to offer. In regards to that, we’ve figured to list down a few interesting things that MWC 2016 in Barcelona showcased. Let’s start the highlight, shall we?

The LG event had a lot of fun and interesting things in hand. However, one particular device caught us off guard, to say the least, it’s the LG rolling bot drone, presented with the LG G5. The LG G5 itself had a lot of surprising feats, but as soon as they play that video of the rolling bot, our attention was immediately shifted to it. The robotic drone was built to primarily watch over pets when their owners are away. It can emit infra-red waves that can turn off/on particular appliances in the household, which is pretty neat.
The rolling bot sure is quite interesting and is no doubt one of the most unforgettable devices of this year’s MWC.
The LG G5 had already showed various leaks and rumours regarding its modular type battery design though seeing it first-hand in LG’s event was still quite satisfactory. The modular swappable design is quite a very intricate idea, in terms of smartphone function and overall build.
Hopefully, we can see more of this type of modular design in the future because we’re thinking that they’re various ways for company’s to improve such design, all it needs to take is a little bit of attention on the design phase.
The Galaxy S7 had a lot of pretty solid offerings shown in their event, but one particular thing that piqued our interest is its so-called Dual-pixel autofocus. I won’t put things much in detail, but bottom line is, this feature allows the pixels to be exploited at their 100% capacity enabling a more photorealistic approach in terms of focusing speed and accuracy, which is quite good for moving objects.
This is pretty much rare on smartphones but has been used by various digital SLR cameras in the past to maximise their moving object shots. With this new innovation, we hope that other companies apply the same principle in their handsets so that we’ll finally be able to do a moving object comparison (yeah, hopefully).
The robust-looking CAT S60 was also part of the event though it was only highlighted as an exhibit, the handset still impressed a lot of MWC 2016 participants. Despite being heavily built to be durable, the CAT S60 doesn’t shorten things up in terms of utility. Thanks to its integrated thermal camera that can play a huge role in a disastrous scenario.
Also, it’s good to know that some durable disaster-based handsets don’t necessary pack good specs, however, the CAT S60, despite being one, packs a pretty decent specs list. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and has 3GB of RAM, which is a flagship level RAM capacity, to say the least. Hopefully, we see more of the S60 in the future.
