HUAWEI Band 11 Review

With jogging and walking 10,000 steps trending lately, many Filipinos are adding smartwatches to their fitness lifestyle.

And it’s not just about workouts anymore, but overall health as well, as smartwatches now feature other health tracking tools like sleep monitoring, which many Filipinos rely on to track their daily rest.

Now, in case you didn’t know yet, HUAWEI has officially launched the newest addition to their smartwatch lineup, the HUAWEI Band 11.

That is why in this article, we’ll review it to see if it can be a reliable companion for your fitness and health journey.

Design and Build

Let’s start with the first thing we notice in a smartwatch, its design. The Band 11 we got for review comes in green soft wrist straps.

In my experience, wearing it for hours, as someone who isn’t usually into wearing watches, it did not cause any itchiness or discomfort. Of course, like any other accessory, wearing it tightly can leave marks, but these go away easily after a short time.

At the back is the charging port, which we’ll cover in more detail later when we discuss the battery and charging capabilities.

As mentioned earlier, the watch is comfortable to wear. It has an 8.99 mm body, roughly the thickness of a stack of four peso coins. It also weighs 18 grams without the strap and 31 grams with the strap.

The watch also features rounded edges, which I personally think improves its overall design.

Display

Now, let’s talk about the display. The HUAWEI Band 11 features a 1.62-inch AMOLED screen. Compared to the Band 10, this one is noticeably bigger, like 28% larger.

Also, it is quite different from the Band 10, offering better readability because of its peak brightness of 2,000 nits.

It wasn’t hard to check the screen under the sun. I tried using it outside around 2PM on a sunny day, and it was still usable. So, if you’re someone who spends a lot of time outdoors, you won’t need to worry.

Navigating the device is easy, and the screen is responsive when scrolling.

HUAWEI also introduced a new interface for the watch, called Hex Grid. As you can see in the photo below, the menu is now arranged in a hexagonal grid, which makes the layout much more space-efficient.

Compared to the Band 10, where the menu and icons were listed only vertically, this new design feels easier to navigate, and there is no need for so much scrolling.

Performance

Now that we’ve talked about the design and display, let’s see how the HUAWEI Band 11 performs.

Using the device for fitness is commendable. However, with its 100+ Sports Modes, we weren’t able to try them all. We tested aerobics, basketball, and outdoor walking instead.

As mentioned earlier, it’s a comfortable watch. Even during workouts, we didn’t feel any discomfort, nor did it get in the way of working out.

It also indicates whether your workout is in warm-up mode, fat-burning zone, aerobic, anaerobic endurance or extreme.

For walks, it notifies users about the distance covered in kilometers. It also measures active and total calories burned in real time, as well as the duration of your workouts.

After every workout, the smartwatch measures your heart rate, which takes about 2 minutes in our experience.

Additionally, we connected our smartphone to the Band 11, so we’ve been able to receive notifications directly on the watch immediately.

In our experience, this is a convenient feature because we don’t have to hold our phones all the time. Even when we’re busy doing other things, we can see notifications that need urgent attention.

For durability, the Band 11 comes with a 5ATM water resistance rating. This makes the watch safe to use while swimming in pools and during other shallow water activities.

While we were not able to test it underwater, we used it during daily activities such as bathing, washing dishes, and doing laundry. Despite exposure to water during these tasks, the watch continued to function normally.

For compatibility, the HUAWEI Band 11 is good to use not only with HUAWEI devices, but with iOS and Android devices too.

Battery Life and Charging

Now, for its longevity, you may ask how long it lasts before I need to charge it?

Regarding battery life, it packs a 300mAh battery. We started with 100% for casual use like checking the time from time to time, using the timer, and with notifications from our phone showing up on the watch. At this time, Always On Display is off. After two days, I was left with 57% of battery.

After this, we tried it with the enabled Always On Display, and after three days of casual use, the battery reached 19%.

Charging isn’t a problem too in our experience, when the HUAWEI Band 11 hits 0% we immediately charged it, and from 0% to 100% it only took us less than an hour, which is 56 minutes to be exact.

Pricing and Verdict

With all that being said, let’s reveal the price. The HUAWEI Band 11 is priced at PHP2,399. It is now available on HUAWEI’s Online Store, Shopee, and Lazada. A Pro version is also available and costs PHP4,499.

Overall, the HUAWEI Band 11 is a reliable option for Filipinos looking for a comfortable and easy-to-use smartwatch for daily health tracking and notifications. It’s durable, offers many workout options, and has good battery life.
