HDMI is a standard audio/video interface. It can fail after long-term use, like other cables, and you may have a defective line.

This happens when connecting pins wear out or get dirty. Look for compromised HDMI cable insulation. HDMI ports can also cause cable problems.

Troubleshoot

A poor connection may be the cause of a nonworking HDMI cable. First, check your computer’s HDMI ports, followed by the HDMI connection. Also, try connecting the HDMI wires to a different port.

Ensure the cable is hooked into the PC’s GPU if it has one. Some systems may not detect the display if it is attached to the motherboard’s connector.

Input Source

When the display’s input source is faulty, it displays “No signal.” This notice may indicate a defective cable, and HDMI input can fix the issue.

Here’s how:

  1. Start the screen.
  2. Find the ” Menu ” button on your screen and press it. It has to be on the back or the side of the monitor.
  3. Find the setting for the source of the input.
  4. Go with HDMI.

Damage Inspection

First, you need to make sure that the cable doesn’t have any damage that you can see. You can also use a different HDMI cable to connect the computer to the TV and see if it works.

A 19-pin connector is what most HDMI cables have. There is a chance that at least one of these pins is broken. The connector can also get clogged up with dirt and other junk, which stops the cable from connecting. To make sure the cable works, look at the head of the cable and make sure all 19 pins are visible and set up correctly.

The next thing you need to do is check the HDMI port. If you tried to connect to the port with a different cable and it didn’t work, the problem could be with the port itself. The port can be bent, making it hard for the connector to fit.

Clean Connectors and Ports

Use a can of compressed air or a blower to clean out the  port. You can also use isopropyl alcohol and a Q-tip to get into all the corners of the port and clean it well.

But before you do that, you need to turn off the computer and disconnect all the cables and connectors. Leave the computer alone to let the water dry when you clean. Then, clean the connector in the same way.

Now, that is how you can fix your not working HDMI Cable. If you want to read more guides and how-to’s, you can check our other articles below:
