Two weeks ago, we tested HONOR’s latest budget offering, the HONOR X5c Plus.
Now, the brand is back with a new device, this time focusing on durability and a larger battery. This is the HONOR X8d.
Starting with the build, the HONOR X8d features a plastic chassis, though it’s not immediately noticeable from a distance.

Despite packing a large battery, the device remains decently slim at 7.5 mm. It also comes with an IP65 rating, providing protection against water splashes and dust.

The device includes an AI assistant button on the frame, alongside the usual power and volume keys. We’ll discuss its functions later.
In terms of design, our unit comes in a blue color variant. While it’s not particularly eye-catching, it still looks clean and decent.

In daily use, the phone feels comfortable in the hand thanks to its smooth edges and manageable weight of 188 grams. However, it can be a bit slippery. Users coming from premium devices may also notice the difference in materials.
For the display, HONOR did not cut corners. The HONOR X8d is equipped with a 6.77-inch AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. It delivers crisp colors and sharp details when navigating the interface.

For entertainment, the viewing experience is solid, with decent brightness for outdoor use, though visibility can be challenging under direct sunlight.

Also, the refresh rate can feel inconsistent at times, with occasional jittery animations.
On the camera side, the HONOR X8d features a dual rear setup with a 108MP main sensor and a 5MP depth sensor, along with a 16MP front camera.

In daylight, photos come out with good dynamic range, detail, and sharpness.
In low-light conditions, results are still decent, though images tend to lose some detail and color accuracy. Overall, camera performance is acceptable for its price segment.
Under the hood, the device is powered by a Snapdragon 6s Gen 2 processor.
Performance is adequate for day-to-day tasks and light multitasking, but it may struggle with heavier workloads.

The AI assistant button allows quick access to shortcuts like Do Not Disturb, calculator, and more. It can also be customized. There is a slight delay when pressing it, but it remains useful for quick actions like screen recording or toggling settings.

For gaming, we tested Mobile Legends, and the experience was generally smooth, with no noticeable stutters or frame drops during gameplay.
Battery life is one of the highlights of the HONOR X8d.

It is backed by a 7000mAh battery, which can easily last a full day or even up to two days for casual users.
In our testing, we only needed to charge it once over a week of light use, though gaming drains the battery more quickly.

As for pricing, the HONOR X8d is available in an 8GB + 256GB configuration, priced at PHP 15,999.
Overall, the HONOR X8d offers minimal upgrades over its predecessor, with the larger battery being the most notable improvement.
Performance and camera capabilities remain largely unchanged, but the device still delivers reliable day-to-day performance. If you’re looking for a secondary phone with strong battery life, this is a solid option.
