HONOR X5c Plus Review

If we are talking about affordable smartphones that offer good value, then HONOR is definitely one of the brands to consider.

The company continues to release devices designed for everyday use, often paired with reliable battery performance.

In this article, we share our experience with HONOR’s latest entry-level smartphone, the HONOR X5c Plus.

Design and Build

The HONOR X5c Plus features a simple and practical design. There is nothing flashy about its overall look, but it offers a comfortable grip and a lightweight build.

The device utilizes plastic for both the frame and rear panel, which helps reduce its weight to approximately 186 grams. During our time with the phone, we did not encounter any issues related to handling or comfort, even during extended use.

However, users who are accustomed to higher-priced smartphones may notice the lack of a premium feel in its construction.

One notable feature is the presence of a 3.5mm headphone jack, which will be appreciated by users who still prefer wired earphones over wireless options.

In terms of durability, the device does not come with an official IP rating or display protection, which may be a consideration for some buyers.

Display

The HONOR X5c Plus features a 6.74-inch TFT LCD display with a 720 × 1600 resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate.

Its large screen makes it suitable for multimedia consumption, supported by relatively slim bezels.

We used the device for watching YouTube and Netflix, as well as for casual gaming.

For its price segment, the display delivers sufficient brightness and decent color reproduction. However, it lacks the vibrancy and deeper contrast typically found on AMOLED panels.

While using the device as a daily driver, we noticed occasional slowdowns when navigating the interface, particularly when multiple applications were running in the background.

Cameras

The HONOR X5c Plus features a 50MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera. Image quality is decent for its class, producing good colors, acceptable sharpness, and reasonable detail in well-lit conditions.

It performs adequately for daily photography, provided there is sufficient lighting. Video recording is limited to 1080p at 30fps for both rear and front cameras.

Performance

Powering the HONOR X5c Plus is a 12nm MediaTek Helio G81 processor. For an entry-level smartphone, this chipset is capable of handling basic daily tasks such as social media browsing, messaging, and video streaming.

Our review unit came with 4GB of RAM, along with an additional 4GB of HONOR’s RAM Turbo feature.

Performance remains stable for light to moderate use, but slowdowns become more noticeable under heavier workloads.

For gaming, the device can handle lighter titles such as Mobile Legends. However, more demanding games result in lag and reduced performance.

The device comes with 128GB of internal storage. For users who rely heavily on their smartphones for apps, photos, and videos, this storage capacity may feel limited.

But, for those planning to use it as a secondary device, it should be sufficient.

Battery

The HONOR X5c Plus packs a 5,260mAh battery paired with 15W wired charging. In our usage, which included social media, video streaming, and light gaming, the device lasted around one and a half days on a single charge.

Charging from 0 to 100% takes approximately two hours. While not particularly fast, it is manageable, especially for overnight charging.

Price and Verdict

The HONOR X5c Plus is priced at PHP 6,999 SRP for the 4GB + 128GB variant.

Overall, it is a competitive entry-level smartphone that offers a large display and strong battery life at an affordable price. However, it lacks features such as 5G connectivity, an IP rating, display protection, and higher storage options.

For users who prioritize basic functionality, battery endurance, and affordability, the HONOR X5c Plus remains a practical option in its segment.
