Honor Play 4T and Play 4T Pro

This week, Huawei is expected to launch two affordable gaming-centric phones. They are called Honor Play 4T and Play 4T Pro. Before it even launches, numerous report has already shown what to expect from the two devices. From the price and availability to the specs and features, here’s what you need to know.

Honor Play 4T Specs

The Play 4T may not have been teased enough by the company but tipsters have reported the innards of the device. Apparently, it’s a 6.4″ device sporting HD+ IPS LCD. Like most budget phones in 2020, the screen has a punch-hole that houses an 8MP selfie camera. On the flip side, a rectangular module houses three cameras featuring 48MP and 2MP lenses. Our take is that one of those is an ultrawide sensor. Furthermore, there’s a rear capacitive fingerprint scanner.

Another shared tip points out to the Play 4T using Kirin 710A from 2018. It’s already outdated but should perform fine in day-to-day usage. It’s also said to be coupled with either 4GB or 6GB RAM and 64GB or 128GB internal storage. No fast charging support for the 4000mAh battery, unfortunately. So, don’t put your hopes up for USB-C port. As for the rest, the Play 4T is based on Android 10 with Magic 3.1 UI skin. Expect Google services to be absent.

Honor Play 4T Pro Specs

Unlike the Play 4T, the Play 4T Pro has been leaked to death. Official pictures of the device were also revealed. For starters, the screen has a diagonal size of 6.3″ sporting FHD+ OLED. No punch-hole here as there’s a teardrop notch. The budget gaming phone will be powered by Kirin 810, as confirmed by Huawei. The configuration is up to 2020’s standards, with either 6GB or 8GB RAM and 128GB or 256GB internal storage. As for the battery capacity, it’s the same as the non-pro model but it supports 40W fast charging.

Camera-wise, we’re looking at a 16MP selfie for the Play 4T Pro. The main cameras, however, will feature 48MP + 8MP + 2MP. Since the official-looking images reveal no capacitive fingerprint scanner, we expect an in-display type instead.

Prices of Honor Play 4T Series

The prices of Honor Play 4T Pro and Play 4T were not revealed. But judging by their specs and features, it’s speculated to be between CNY 999 and CNY 1499 or, when roughly converted to Philippine peso, translates to P7,000 and P10,700. Regardless, we will know the final official pricing come Thursday when they launch.
