The Haylou brand is a Xiaomi subsidiary and they are focused on offering affordable hot selling TWS products. The Haylou GT6 is their first semi in-ear earbuds with Apple Airpods form factor and it has a sleek and comfortable build. It doesn’t have the best premium quality, but the build and sound are also unexpected for the price.
Cheaper TWS can be underwhelming with mediocre design, and chances are they become uncomfortable to wear after a long day of use. However, the story is different in the Haylou GT6. Available in two colors–black and white–the design of the Haylou GT6 have a minimalist, compact, and quite premium-looking device that is very lightweight at 3.9grams each earbud which is lighter than an A4 Paper.

The case has a matted smooth texture with an engraved reflective Haylou logo in the middle. It has a tiny led indicator in the middle below the cover, and it is already in USB Type-C. It’s a minimalist-looking TWS with no buttons and fancy texts.
It’s not easy to open the cover with one hand due to the slim type design of the case, but upon opening the cover, I was already amazed at how they hid the manufacturer and recycle texts at the back of the cover. It still didn’t remove the aesthetics. The hinge is pretty sturdy, but don’t pressure it when you open the cover as it has a plastic build. The outer layer of the case is still in matte texture, and it becomes shiny on the accent part where it holds the pair of earbuds.
Speaking of earbuds, the pair really resembles the design of the AirPods. It is a semi in-ear open design and breathable. It is made of plastic and with a long stem. It has a unique design with half of the earbuds having a matte finish while the stem and the ear side being glossy.
The pair also has an LED indicator and the capacitive touch area below. This is where you will control the pairing as the case doesn’t have any buttons.

Wearing the Haylou GT6 earbuds are as comfortable as Apple AirPods, and I really like how it feels on the ear. It’s only 3.9 grams each, and I didn’t experience any discomfort after wearing them for almost 3 hours. It is also IPX4 water-resistant, so it’s safe from water splashes. Comfortability is great and the GT6 is quite stable; however, if you are an athlete or are into extreme sports, you may want to look for other Haylou devices with in-ear design for better performance grip.
Editor’s Note: If you’re going to purchase this device, make sure to remove the plastic seal covering on the magnetic contacts before charging the earbuds.
It offers automatic pairing, but you need to, at least, power on the earbuds before you start to pair them to a new device. Holding the touch sensor for 1.5 seconds will turn on the earbuds and will enter pairing mode. It isn’t evident at first, and I have to look at the instruction manual on how you will turn on both earbuds separately, but you’ll get used to it in time.
At daily usage, after pulling the earbuds out of the case, the pair will easily connect within 5 seconds and will flash white blinking light indicating that it’s in pairing mode.
Moving on to controls, the Haylou GT6 has uncommon gestures, unlike other earbuds with straightforward controls.
These gestures are listed inside the instruction manual. It’ll take some time for you to familiarize the controls and it doesn’t have volume control as well, but for the price, it’s acceptable.

Haylou GT6 is quite an impressive TWS. It blasts sound from its 12mm dynamic driver and uses Pixart chipset as well as Bluetooth 5.2. The connection is seamless and uninterrupted with up to a 10-meter range.
Quality is not bad, also not great. It fires clear sound and decent loudness with almost no distortion. Music quality is fair and fires decent clean sound for the price; however, it still has a thin-sounding feel, and if you are a bass-head, you may want to look for other Haylou TWS offerings. It’s clearly not for music enthusiasts but for people that use TWS as an average day-to-day companion; it’ll work as its mic has impressive clarity and clear sounding great for Zoom meetings and other call-related work.
It also offers an Ultra-low Latency Mode with a 65ms response time and it is perfect when gaming. Especially that first-person shooting games require nice and great low latency earphones to hear footsteps and immediately react to it. Lower latency is better, and comparing it to other affordable TWS, the Haylou GT6 is 15ms faster.

Heading to its battery life, the Haylou GT6 offers 4 hours of continuous playback, more than enough to stream movies on Netflix. It has 16 hours of total playtime with a charging case. It could last up to 2days for average use, but if you are a music lover, it can still satisfy you at least for a day before it runs out of juice. Charging the earbuds will take 1 hour and 30 minutes, while charging the case takes 2 hours.
Overall, The Haylou GT6 is a decent TWS that offers more than what you pay for. It has a decent sound quality good for average listeners, an impressive microphone quality for meetings, a great design and aesthetic that caught my attention, and seamless connectivity without interruption. It still has downsides, there’s no in-ear detection, but it is one of the TWS I reviewed that exceeded my expectations, especially that it is very affordable.
Its price starts at P999.00 and is available at Shopee, Lazada, and other online stores. You can also shop for Haylou products on their official Facebook page.
