Google has introduced a new feature called “Skills” for Google Chrome.
The feature works with Gemini in Chrome, allowing users to save frequently used prompts and run them again with one click, which previously required users to manually retype prompts on each page.
With the Skills feature, users can store prompts directly from their chat history. These saved prompts can be triggered by typing a forward slash ( / ) or clicking a plus ( + ) button.

The AI can then apply the same task across the current webpage and other selected tabs.
Google said early users have applied Skills to tasks such as checking nutrition details in recipes, comparing product specifications across tabs, and scanning long documents for key information.
A built-in Skills library is also available, offering ready-made prompts for common use cases, such as product analysis and gift selection. Users can edit these prompts or create their own versions.
Google noted that Skills follow the same privacy and security measures as Gemini in Chrome. Sending emails or adding calendar events will still require user confirmation.

The Skill feature is starting to roll out to Gemini in Chrome on desktop, with saved Skills accessible across devices where users are signed in.
