GLOBE Telecom Inc. said on Thursday that it built 542 new cell sites and improved 5,087 mobile sites to LTE across the country in the first half (H1), which ended on June 30.
The Ayala-led carrier also put in about 148,000 fiber-to-the-home lines, which is less than it did during the same time last year because it was still trying to make the most of the fiber it already had.1
During the time period, Globe spent P37.7 billion on capital investments, most of which went toward improving infrastructure. By the end of the year, the number is projected to go up to P71.5 billion, which is about $1.3 billion.
The carrier said that a big chunk of this budget, about 90%, will help meet the growing data needs of Filipinos for learning, working, and having fun.
Globe said that its hard work was why Ookla had named it “Most Reliable Mobile Network in the Philippines” five times in a row.
The company said that it had done better than its competitors and had gotten the best scores for consistency since the second quarter of 2022.
On Thursday, Globe Telecom shares went up by PHP10 to PHP1,870.
