2017 is about to start and what a year for the mobile industry. It has been a wild ride for smartphones this 2016 as countless devices were released from the budget-friendly up to the all-around powerhouse smartphones. It’s hard to argue which is the best, as different companies focus on various features like the battery, performance or camera.

Speaking of the camera, people just can’t stop taking pictures anymore. Be it food, clothes, scenery and a lot more, even dogs. It only shows how the generation today is very dependent on social media. Sharing and posting and like trying to make living out of it(but with no pay). But anyways, the point here is that we just love to capture and share the special moments in our lives and that’s why when it comes to smartphones, most of the time, people will take a look at how good does its camera performs.

The smartphone has evolved throughout the years proving that it is not solely used as a means of communication but also for entertainment. You can watch and stream videos, you can even live stream from your phone, play games simultaneously with others, heck, it can even act as a projector. But none of these are more prevalent than the camera.

From VGA to 4K

The built-in camera on our phones right now are of different standard. Before we are taking photos and videos in VGA quality, that is 640×480 resolution. And now, it can support up to 4K resolution or 3840 × 2160 resolution. Just imagine those pixels on your phone crammed up in a small space making your viewing experience pleasurable (It’s not that kind, though). Not only that, you can manually set things like ISO and aperture, just like a DSLR. Capturing images is even a cinch whereas it can take a photo within less than a second. But did you know that the first produced photographic image took longer than what you expect?

First Photograph

French inventor, Joseph Nicephore Niepce captured the first photo picture in 1825. The photo shows the view of a window at Le Gras. and took eight hours of exposure time. It’s hard to clearly depict the picture as taking a photo back then requires almost the whole day. Within that time frame, the sun already moved from west to east, appearing to shine on both sides of the building.
