The Toll Regulatory Board (TRB), in collaboration with the Land Transportation Office (LTO) and the Department of Transportation (DOTr), has introduced penalties for motorists entering expressways without Radio-frequency identification devices or with insufficient load.
Entering toll plazas without an RFID device or having one with insufficient load balance causes traffic and inconveniences other motorists. With these penalties, the TRB, LTO, and DOTr believe they will reduce issues such as long queues at toll booths.
Penalties for offenders will begin at the end of this month, August 31, 2024.
Penalty fines for those without an RFID device while using expressways will start at PHP1,000 for the first offense, PHP2,000 for the second offense, and PHP5,000 for the third and subsequent offenses.
On the other hand, for those with insufficient balance, fines will start at PHP500 for the first offense, PHP1,000 for the second offense, and PHP2,500 for the third and further offenses.
