Facebook Offers a Break-up Option For Former Partners; Will Limit Posts Seen By One Another

Facebook recently announced a new feature that is generally focused for the heartbroken individuals that recently left a relationship and would simply want to move on. This particular feature will help the user specifically and literally “forget” and move on, through the minimizing the interaction between the two. Lets take a closer look at these options and how you can use it.

See them less

Through this option, you will see less and less of your former partner’s name and profile picture on Facebook without resorting to unfriend or blocking your former partner. All possible posts of them won’t be visible to you on your news feed and their name will not be suggested in taggings and messagings. This is a good option for those who recently got out of their relationship and would simply want to get back some personal space. Hopefully, with this option, your partner will get the overall full picture that this is pretty much it.

There are also options that will also limit the videos, status updates and photos that your former partner can see and an option to edit out who can see your past posts, to prevent any reminiscing moments on everybody side. Currently this feature is being tested in US mobile and it is expected to be roll out globally, based on people’s feedbacks. However, these tools are optional and isn’t a necessity when releasing the in a relationship status.

Say goodbye

These features are good, since it’ll make things easier for people who recently left a relationship to cope with the lost, even only in social media and would help patch things up overtime. We might see this particular feature roll out in the near future, but for now, we’ll stick to not opening our social media accounts, when in a breakup.
