Anti-Cybercrime Agency Seizes 90,000+ Prelisted SIM Cards in Pasig

Prelisted SIM Cards

Government cybercrime investigators revealed on Wednesday that they have seized around 90,000 pre-registered Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) cards in a townhouse located in Pasig City.

The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) expressed strong concerns that these confiscated SIM cards might be linked to organized criminal activities and fraudulent schemes.

CICC Undersecretary Alexander Ramos explained that these pre-registered SIM cards contain fake but fully detailed personal information, including names and addresses. In simpler terms, these cards are filled with phony personal data.

Illegal SIM card seizures like this have occurred before. Just last September, the NBI nabbed three individuals involved in the online sale of registered SIM cards. They managed to seize a total of 1,023 SIM cards from various networks. However, not all of these were in a clean, registered state; some had been deleted, registered again, or had simply expired.
