A day after Huawei announced the Honor 30S with Kirin 820 5G, the company followed up with Honor 8A Prime. Released for the Russian market, the new budget phone is a re-branded version of Honor 8A Pro that was announced in April 2019. But instead of having a price of RUB 13,990(~P11K), Honor 8A Prime is down to RUB 9990(~P6,400). Furthermore, there’s a chance that it comes pre-loaded with Google apps and services. The company lets you choose from Midnight Black, Blue, and Emerald Green colors.
Given that the Honor 8A Prime specs are from 2019, don’t expect too much from it. With that said, you’re still getting a 6.09″ HD+ IPS LCD screen. The chipset is of MediaTek Helio P35 which is good enough for a budget phone. It’s also paired with 3GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. Running on EMUI 9.0 based on Android 9 Pie, we’re not sure if it’ll ever receive the latest Android 10. As for the cameras, the back has a single 13MP main camera (alongside a fingerprint scanner) and an 8MP selfie camera. The battery is only rated 3020mAh which is far below compared to the 4000mAh standard today.
If you’re planning to wait for the Honor 8A Prime, it’s best to look at the best budget phones in 2019.
