Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) financial support program issued the COVID-19 Adjustment Measures Program (CAMP) on March 17, 2020. This allows Filipino workers to get one-time P5000 financial aid as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect people’s daily lives. One of the initial requirements was for the employers to submit the company payroll, but due to select employers refusing to do so, DOLE has “relaxed” the requirements a little bit. Now, workers themselves can submit the form directly to their respective DOLE regional offices.
“We advise the worker na sabihan ‘yung mga kasamahan niyang worker na sila na lang mag-submit sa amin. Tapos ipapadala na lang namin ito [via money remittance]. Di na namin ipapadaan sa employer,” according to Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III.
(We advise workers to come together and submit the requirement to us then we will send the money to them. We will no longer involve their employers.)
Upon approval of the cash assistance request, Bello said DOLE can send the money via remittance centers within 2 days.
