Similar to its predecessor, Windows 10 offers a variety of methods for users to sign in. What happens, though, if you want Windows 10 to auto-login but don’t want any security layers in between?
You can use a long, strong password, a six-digit pin, or, if your machine enables it, biometric sign-in to secure your Windows user account. In Windows 10, you can turn on auto login if you don’t want to enter your PIN or password each time.
This article will guide you through the process of turning on auto login in Windows 10.
You can use this page as a manual to activate auto login in Windows 10.
There are two ways to make this happen. By modifying the registry or the User Accounts control, you can disable login information.
1. Enable user account auto-login
1.To launch Run, press Windows Key + R.
2. Put netplwiz in the Run dialog box and hit OK. The User Accounts window will open as a result.
3. The box that says “Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer” should be unchecked.
4. Click Apply.
5. Enter the username and password when asked to do so to turn off password-based login. Possibly both the username and password must be entered.
6. Click OK to save and exit the window.
7. You won’t need to enter a password for your account when the computer restarts after that.
2.Enable auto-login using Registry Editor
1. Try this registry hack if the first approach failed and Windows 10 is still prompting you for a password when you initially log in.
2. Make a system restore point first before performing any registry adjustments. If something goes wrong, you will be able to restore the PC to its original state using this.
Edit registry files
1. For Run, press Windows Key + R.
2. To launch the Registry Editor, enter regedit and press OK.
3. Go to the following location in the Registry Editor:
4. Double-click on the entry for DefaultUserName in the right-pane.
5. Enter your user name, then hit OK.
6. Double-click the DefaultPassword entry after that. Enter your password, then hit OK.
7. You must manually create the DefaultPassword entry if it doesn’t already exist. This is the procedure. Go straight to step 11 if you see the DefaultPassword entry.
8. Select String Value under New on the Edit menu.
9. Name it as DefaultPassword and hit enter.
10. To change your password, double-click DefaultPassword, then click OK.
11. Click New and choose String Value from the Edit menu.
12. Enter “AutoAdminLogon” as the name.
13. Double-click the entry for AutoAdminLogon.
14. Enter 1 in the Value area of the Edit String box, then click OK.
15. Exit Registry Editor.
16. Switch off your computer. Now, you can instantly log on without having to input your password.
Note that only Windows Server 2019, Windows Server 2016, and Windows Server 2012 R2 are compatible with this second solution.
