Xiaomi 12T Pro vs Xiaomi 12T—Specs Comparison

Xiaomi launched the Xiaomi 12T series internationally earlier this week. This year’s portfolio includes two models: the Xiaomi 12T and the 12T Pro, which are direct successors to the Xiaomi 12 series smartphones introduced late last year. Given that Xiaomi has released two new models, we felt it would be a good idea to compare these two smartphones and see how they differ.

There are virtually few changes between these two models based only on their specifications. In fact, even in terms of appearance, the Xiaomi 12T and Xiaomi 12T Pro seem similar. They have the same display and form dimensions, however, there are some small changes in memory configurations and processors.

So, in this comparison, let’s take a closer look at the Xiaomi 12T versus Xiaomi 12T Pro and see how they vary.

Design

Both phones are practically identical in terms of design. In reality, they both have the same design as their Xiaomi 12 series predecessors, which were launched last year. That is not to say the design is horrible, but if you were hoping for a design overhaul, you will be let down.

So the Xiaomi 12T and 12T Pro both have rounded sides and a rectangular camera module with three cameras inside. The primary camera on both models is rather huge, which is not unexpected given that the 12T Pro has one of the best resolution cameras on the market at the moment – a 200MP sensor. The two phones have an identical front panel, with a punch-hole camera on top.

Overall, it will be quite difficult to tell between the two versions based just on their design. Both have the same dimensions of 163.1 x 75.9 x 8.6 mm, although the 12T Pro is somewhat heavier at 205 grams vs 202 grams for the Xiaomi 12T.

In terms of color, both phones come in the same three options: black, blue, and silver.

Display

The display is another area where the Xiaomi 12T and 12T Pro are identical. Both phones include a 6.67-inch OLED screen with a 1.5K resolution of 1220 x 2712 pixels, a refresh rate of 120Hz, and HDR10+ compatibility. Notably, it appears that only the Xiaomi 12T Pro will support Dolby Vision. However, this appears to be the only significant difference between the displays of these two models.

Both phones include a fingerprint scanner built into the touchscreen.

Camera

The camera on the Xiaomi 12T Pro is one of the most significant improvements over its predecessors. The phone features a gigantic 200MP primary camera on the back, which is supplemented by a 120-degree 8MP super wide-angle sensor and a 2MP macro photographer. The main camera has an f/1.69 aperture, OIS, and an 8P lens.

The ordinary edition, on the other hand, receives a 108MP primary shooter with f/1.7 aperture and OIS (no 8P lens), as well as the same 8MP ultra-wide and 2MP macro cameras as its Pro brothers.

Notably, the 200MP main camera on the 12T Pro can bin up to 16 pixels at a time to produce very detailed 12.5MP photos. Similarly, the 12T’s 108-megapixel sensor bins nine pixels at a time to produce sharp 12MP photographs.

Another distinction between the two models is the Pro model’s enhanced camera functionality. The more costly sibling, for example, includes Xiaomi ProCut and ProFocus technologies in its camera configuration. The Pro model can also record films in 8K 7680 x 4320 at 24fps and 4K 3840 x 2160 at 60fps, although the normal model can only record videos at 4K at 30fps.

Both phones include a 20MP f/2.2 camera on the front for selfies and video calls.

Specs & Performance

The CPU is the most noticeable difference between the Xiaomi 12T and the 12T Pro. The Qualcomm SM8475 Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset clocked at 3.2GHz powers the Xiaomi 12T Pro, which is Qualcomm’s fastest CPU for 2022. The Xiaomi 12T, on the other hand, is equipped with Mediatek’s fastest chip, the Dimensity 8100-Ultra, which is clocked at 2.85GHz. While the Snapdragon processor has a modest processing power edge, both CPUs are quite powerful and should give comparable performance and graphics power. High-intensive programs or games should operate smoothly on both devices.

There are various distinctions between these two devices in terms of potential settings as well. The Xiaomi 12T has just 8GB of RAM and is available in 128GB and 256GB storage options. The Xiaomi 12T Pro, on the other hand, is available in 8GB and 12GB RAM variants, with storage capacities ranging from 32GB to 256GB.

Because they are both from the same 12T series, they both run the Android 12-based MIUI 13 UI.

Battery

Both phones use the same battery and charging technology. The Xiaomi 12T and 12T Pro have 5000mAh batteries with up to 120W fast charging capabilities, promising 100% charge in under 20 minutes.

Price & Availability

Overall, the Xiaomi 12T Pro appears to be the better buy of the two, with a slew of extra camera functions and a slightly faster CPU. However, if you want to save some money, the Xiaomi 12T is a powerful gadget that will not disappoint for the price of EUR 600. The Xiaomi 12T is priced at EUR 599 (roughly Php 34,554), while the Pro model is priced at EUR 749 (around Php43,207) internationally.
