vivo V29 Unboxing and First Impressions!

Vivo is back with another V series device that excels in portrait photography. Last time we tested out the Aura portrait mode of the vivo V27 series and it outputs impressive quality results. Today we are going to unbox the vivo V29 and look at some of its basic features before we release a full review of the device.

One of the key selling points of the vivo V29 is the Aura light 2.0 which is bigger and brighter than the previous one.

What’s inside the box?

Box ContentsThe V29 pretty much has all the standard stuff inside the box, the main unit is covered by a plastic pack, the quick guide document, a silicon case, an 80W power brick, a USB C cable, and the SIM ejector pin.

Design, Display, and Camera

1 5In terms of design, well it pretty much looks the same, with just bit of tweaks on its overall finish and camera module design. It has a matte-like glossy finish which feels comfortable to the hand but it is kind of slippery. The color variant of our unit is Red which we think is aesthetically pleasing. Its simple design makes it eye catchy and it feels premium as well. The V29’s build is quite sturdy and lightweight as well.

5As for its camera module, if you compare it to last year, the triple camera was aligned vertically, and on the top side would be the aura portrait light. For the V29, instead of a sensor at the bottom, the aura light is placed under the second camera, and you get a small camera sensor underneath the camera flash. The V29 packs a 50MP OIS main sensor, 8MP ultrawide, 2MP depth, and up front, we also get a 50MP selfie shooter.

2 2When it comes to its display, they didn’t disappoint. The V29 boasts a 6.78-inch FHD+ curved AMOLED display paired with a 120Hz refresh rate and has support for HDR10+ and 1B colors. We get a 90.8% screen-to-body ratio and a 20:9 aspect ratio with 453ppi density.

Hardware

3As for its hardware, the vivo V29 is powered by a Snapdragon 778G octa-core chip. It has 12GB of RAM which can then be expanded up to 8GB with a total of 20GB RAM and is paired with 256GB of storage. It runs on Android 13 slapped with Funtouch 13 OS. As for its battery, it has a 4600mAh battery capacity with support of up to 80W fast charging.

Conclusion

We are quite excited about our full review of the vivo V29 since we experienced an impressive camera performance when we last reviewed a V series device. Aside from cameras, the V29 offers a big battery with fast charging, a 120Hz curved AMOLED display, and an aesthetically pleasing design. Stay tuned as we will release our full review of the vivo V29 soon, we will take a deep dive into its camera upgrades and if the Snapdragon 778G is still a good processor for smartphones in 2023.
