Samsung’s midrange smartphones have gained a lot of popularity over the past year, and this year, the brand officially introduced the Galaxy A56 5G.
Despite its chipset upgrade and extended OS and security updates, Samsung has kept the price close to its predecessor’s. So, with that being said, what does this phone offer? Let’s find out!
Let’s start with the design. The Galaxy A56 5G features a sleek glass finish with noticeably thinner bezels. At the back, the cameras are arranged in a pill-shaped module with a flash beside them, which looks clean. The back panel has a premium appearance with a smooth, glossy finish, though it is prone to fingerprint smudges.
The color variant of our review unit is Awesome Pink, and it weighs 198 grams with a thickness of 7.44mm. It also features an aluminum frame, which is quite sturdy.
Speaking of the frame, the volume rockers and power button are located on the right side, while the SIM card tray, charging port, and speaker are all at the bottom.
Design-wise, the ridges around the frame, along with the aluminum material, add a premium feel to its overall quality. Although it doesn’t improve the grip, it still feels comfortable and durable. Speaking of durability, the back panel is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus+ and has an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance.
Now, let’s flip the device over and talk about the display. The Galaxy A56 5G has a much larger screen compared to its predecessor. It boasts a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080×2340.
It supports HDR10+, has a 120Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 1900 nits. Just like the back panel, the display is also protected by Gorilla Glass Victus+.
The display of the Galaxy A56 5G offers one of the best viewing experiences for mid-range smartphones. Apart from its durable display, it delivers great colors and impressive viewing angles. Outdoor use isn’t a challenge either, even in direct sunlight.
We’ve been using this phone for a couple of days now as our main device for watching movies, and so far, we’ve had no issues at all.
As for the cameras, the Galaxy A56 5G is equipped with a 50MP main camera with OIS, a 12MP ultrawide camera, and a 5MP macro camera. On the front, it features a 12MP selfie camera housed in a punch-hole Infinity-O display, as Samsung calls it.
In terms of the rear camera quality, for its price, it does its job well. It captures crisp and well-defined shots with a wide dynamic range and impressive detail.

Low-light photography also performs well, with images showing good brightness. It has decent color saturation, especially in areas with available light sources.

As for the selfie camera, it produces sharp and crisp images with a wide dynamic range and no visible deep blacks or shadows.
When it comes to video recording, both the rear and front cameras can shoot up to 4K at 30FPS without stabilization and 1080P at 30FPS with Super Steady mode on for the rear camera.
Now that we’ve covered the cameras, let’s talk about the power. The Galaxy A56 5G is powered by an Exynos 1380 4nm octa-core processor, along with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Its RAM can be expanded by another 8GB via the RAM Plus feature. Out of the box, this device runs on Android 15 with One UI 7.0.
In terms of multitasking, this device handles it decently. There are some occasional slowdowns, but they weren’t too bothersome.
We also tried playing games on this phone, and it performed decently. There were some occasional stutters and frame drops, along with the back of the device feeling warm, but it still delivered acceptable gaming performance.
Here are some of its benchmark results.
Benchmark Results
Let’s move on to the battery. The Galaxy A56 5G is backed by a 5000mAh battery paired with 45W fast charging.
During our video loop test, it lasted about 14 hours and 12 minutes. Charging from 0 to 100% took roughly 1 hour and 19 minutes.
Lastly, the price. The Samsung Galaxy A56 5G is priced at PHP 23,990 for the 8GB + 128GB variant, while the 8GB + 256GB model is priced at PHP 25,990.
Overall, the Samsung Galaxy A56 5G is a decent midrange device. However, it’s hard to recommend this phone when other options in the market offer more for the same price. While it’s still a solid all-around device, it doesn’t stand out against its competitors.
