To transform Home Ultera into a fixed wired and wireless service with faster speeds and better quality. PLDT has announced that its existing subscribers can either upgrade to a fiber plan with higher rates or opt for a postpaid wireless service at no additional cost.
By the end of July, Home Ultera will also decommission 185 towers; those same towers were used to provide the extensive coverage offered by Time-Division Duplex Long-Term Evolution (TD-LTE) as part of the initiative.
As a result of this service migration, approximately 3,000 pre-existing Home Ultera subscribers will be able to migrate their services.
As a result of the migration effort being implemented nationwide, 58 provinces are directly affected. These provinces range from North Benguet to South Maguindanao.
As a result of PLDT’s announcement earlier this year that it would be disposing of a substantial number of its telecom towers, the company is now decommissioning most of them. As part of the agreement, 5,907 buildings were sold to PLDT and will be leased back to PLDT for 25 years.
To deliver fiber-optic service up to 10,000 Mbps, PLDT holds a unique and powerful position as a telco company in terms of its ability to provide fiber-optic service to its customers.
