The Pro version of Galaxy A9 2016 takes out top spot main because of its really solid battery life, a powerful chipset for its range, great Super AMOLED screen, and a decent camera. Despite the massive size, the phablet remains premium.
In terms of camera, the Sony Xperia XA Ultra is one of the best shooters in this category of extra large smartphones. The new 21MP main camera is as capable as other flagship shooters. It is then paired with a 16MP selfie camera that takes great selfie photos. It did not take the top spot because of the underwhelming battery life. Nonetheless, the Xperia XA Ultra is really a reliable phablet.
Because of the affordable price, the Mi Max makes it to the top 3. The 6.44-inch FHD screen is the second widest behind the Zenfone 3 Ultra with 6.8-inch FHD. The Mi Max lacks the camera qualities we’ve seen in other shooters but its powerful hexacore Snapdragon 650 chip and big battery make up for the mediocre sensors.
Perhaps the most loaded phablet in the list is the Asus Zenfone 3 Ultra ZU680KL. It has the best and loudest speakers while packing a high-res audio upscaling inside. The premium feel and high-end pair of cameras are great to pair for the unwieldy size. For P32,995, the Zenfone 3 Ultra is also the most expensive with the Galaxy A9 Pro behind on its retail SRP.
Last year’s Xperia phablet the Sony Xperia C5 Ultra makes it on our list. The chipset is a bit dated but yet capable until now while comes equipped with an almost bezel-less 6-inch display. The camera setup on this one is as good as the latest mid-range phones. Another great thing about the Xperia C5 is the affordable price thanks to the price cut.
The Galaxy A9 2016 is just a few notches smaller in terms of battery capacity and camera sensors compared to the Pro model. If the price difference were just that big compared to the Pro, perhaps this one will be on our top list. But nonetheless, the Galaxy A9 is a phablet worth the money if you’re a Samsung fan.
With a solid build and wide display, the Nexus 6 of last year is still a better option if you could find a cheaper one.
