Threads, will start on the web version early this week. Since the short-form posting service began, there has been an annoying lack of a web version.
Why Threads Users Are Already Complaining
Meta’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, said earlier this month that the company is working on adding the feature and making search better (or just search, since you can only search for usernames on the site right now). He said it would be ready in “the next few weeks.”
PREVIOUSLY: Threads Will Soon Have a Website and Search Feature
Threads last week that Meta had been trying “an early version internally for a week or two,-“ but that it “needs some work” before it can be released to the public.
Threads started out about a month and a half ago as a very basic copy of Twitter. It quickly reached 100 million users and was filled with celebs and brands, but it was missing a few important features that the company has been slowly adding.
The company recently added a “follow feed” and the ability to verify a link to your Mastodon profile. This suggests that Meta may be at least partly serious about integrating with the decentralized social network protocol Activity Pub.
