GSIS to Release ₱33B Pension

GSIS to Release ₱33B Pension: The Social Security System (SSS) and the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) said on Thursday that they would pay out ₱29.74 billion and ₱3.35 billion in the 13th month and Christmas pensions this month.

The first 3.36 million SSS retirees will get their pensions as early as the first week of December, and the second group will get theirs on December 4, 2022.

Michael Regino, the President and CEO of the SSS said that the amount that pensioners will get is the same as their monthly pensions.

Pensioners eligible for the SSS 13th month pension are retirement pensioners, SS and Employees’ Compensation survivors, and total disability pensioners, including partial disability pensioners, whose pensions have been paid for at least 12 months.

The SSS said that those who don’t follow the Annual Pensioners Information Revalidation (APIR) would also get their cash gift after getting their status back on track.

The SSS also asked banks that are not part of PESONet to give pensions to their clients by December 4 and asked the Philippine Postal Corporation to speed up the delivery of checks to its pensioners.

State pensioners who get money for being old or having a disability will get their cash gift on December 6 through their Unified Multi-Purpose Identification eCard.

They must be getting their pensions every month and still be alive as of November 30, 2022.

GSIS President and General Manager Wick Veloso said that GSIS retirees would get an amount equal to their one-month pension, up to a maximum of ₱10,000.

The GSIS also said that new retirees from 2018 to 2022 who chose to get their basic monthly pension in cash for 18 months will not get their cash gift until five years after they retire.

People who got the five-year lump sum but will get their regular monthly pension after December 31, 2022, survivorship and dependent pensioners, people who retired under the Portability Law, and people who get a pro-rata allowance are not eligible for the GSIS Christmas cash gift.
