Xiaomi’s sub-brand, Redmi, is currently preparing for the official announcement of Redmi Note 8 Series. It’s an exciting mid-range phone lineup that will come with MediaTek’s Helio G90 Gaming chipset series. But seemingly hogging the spotlight is Redmi’s rumored K20 successor. Turns out, it’s not a rumor anymore. Redmi K30 is coming with 5G capability.

Redmi K30 and K30 Pro with 5G Capability

Redmi’s GM, Lu Weibing, announced on Weibo that the Redmi K30 with 5G connectivity is already in the works. But don’t get too excited yet as the device is still in its early stage of research and development, according to his reply to a question.  It’s unclear whether he’s talking about the K30 or K30 Pro, as the Redmi K20 series comes with a pro model that features flagship specification.

Replacing the Poco F1 device is the Redmi K20 series. In other countries, including the Philippines, the device is called Xiaomi Mi 9T (and Mi 9T Pro). If we’re to follow the release date of these devices, we might see the Redmi K30 series as early as March 2020, during Mobile World Congress (MWC).
