Xiaomi President and Redmi General Manager, Lu Weibing, can’t stop teasing its next smartphone. The latest teaser includes Weibing unveiling the fact that the Redmi 10X will be the first phone under the brand’s X-series and will be headlined by MediaTek Dimensity 820 5G SoC. And if you still have any doubts in MediaTek’s chipset, an Antutu benchmark shows the chipset garnering 415,672 points; a comparable result to the Snapdragon 855 flagship from last year. If that’s not impressive, we don’t know what is.
Xiaomi Redmi 10X is expected to be one of the most affordable mid-range 5G phones in 2020. The specs include 6.57″ OLED FHD+ display with an in-display fingerprint scanner, powered by 4420mAh battery. Apparently, the RAM and storage combo is 8GB and 256GB. The cameras might resemble the one found on the Redmi Note 9s, however, a Redmi 10X Pro variant is also said to be on its way. As for the Dimensity 5G, it’s based on the 7nm process node with an integrated 5G modem and Mali-G57 MC5 GPU. The octa-core CPU is clustered into two; 4x ARM Cortex A76 clocked at 2.6GHz and 4x ARM Cortex A55 clocked at 2GHz. While the CPU is more than capable of rivaling last year’s flagship phones, we have yet to see the performance of the GPU.
Redmi 10X will launch in China on May 26th. We have no details yet regarding its price, so stay tuned for that.
