Realme Is About to Release the Cheapest 5G Phone

One of the promises of the smartphone industry is to release and adopt more 5G phones in 2020. Sure enough, we continue to be served with 5G phones, regardless if it’s the expensive or the affordable ones. But with the reemergence of MediaTek as a chipset maker, it paves the way for incredibly cheap alternatives, especially for a new standard that’s yet to turn two years old. Back in July, OPPO surprised us with the A72 5G that already offers a 90Hz screen. Last week, Realme V5 did the same thing, but with a more impressive spec sheet. While V5 is considered as the cheapest 5G phone at the moment, another Realme phone is about to take that crown.

As claimed by a reliable tipster in China, Realme is apparently working on a Dimensity 720 phone that’s a bit less expensive than the V5. Rumors have it that it’s a challenger of the upcoming Huawei Enjoy 20 5G, also with the same SoC. TENAA’s listing revealed that the Realme phone in question features 4890mAh battery, 6.52″ screen, and a dimension of 164.4 x 76 x 8.6mm. Now for a 5000mAh phone, that thickness is impressive. If this new phone turns out to be a watered-down V5, then we might be looking at a 60Hz display and 48MP quad-cameras. That spec list is just our hunch, so best to take it with a grain of salt.
