After being a mainstream monitor provider in the Philippines, Philips is finally bringing its first-ever gaming monitor lineup — the Philips Gaming Series. Pioneering the company’s foray into the gaming segment are Philips Gaming 242E1GSJ and Philips Gaming 272E1GSJ. Additionally, the Philips Momentum lineup will now be under the gaming banner as well, starting with the Philips Momentum 242M8 and 272M8.
Philips Gaming 242E1GSJ
Starting from the most affordable from the list is the Philips E line gaming monitor. The company touts its best gaming monitor in 2020 as an all-around display for both playing and watching. The screen comes in either 24″ or 27″ size, featuring VA LCD panel with wide viewing angles. In a 16:9 aspect ratio with FHD resolution, the panel supports SmartContrast for rich black details, Ultra Wide-Color, and SmartImage game mode for both gamers and casual users. Gamers will love the 1ms fast response time for competitive gaming as well as 144Hz refresh with AMD FreeSybnc Premium support. The brightness level goes up to 350nits, with 121.9% sRGB for the 27″ and 127″ for the 24″.
Philips Momentum 242M8
For the Philips Momentum 242M8 and 272M8, you’re looking at the same set of features as the Philips E line. However, the two gaming monitors are now using IPS technology for its LCD instead of VA. In comparison, IPS offers wider viewing angles with little-to-no color degradation. It’s still the same 144Hz AMDFreeSync FHD display, but with typical 250nits brightness and Mega Infinity Dynamic Contrast Ratio. You also get the same LowBlue Mode with Flicker-free technology found on the E line to prevent eye strain. The same goes for the -5/20 tilt angle of the stand.
All Philips’ gaming monitors come in black in a textured finish.
