Ookla Speedtest: Philippines Falls to 116th(Mobile) and 104th(Fixed)

Ookla’s popular speed test software has released the world ranking for both mobile and fixed broadband speeds for the month of March 2020. In mobile connection, the world averages 30.47Mbps download speed(DL), 10.73Mbps upload speed (UL), and 42ms latency. In fixed broadband, the average DL speed, UL speed, and latency are 74.64Mbps, 40.07Mbps, and 24ms, respectively.

The Philippines has fallen behind, as of recent. From 111th with 16.66Mbps DL, the country’s mobile internet speed with an average of 14.24Mbps DL is now in 116th place. The average UL is 5.89Mbps which is lower compared to last month’s 6.47Mbps. Fixed broadband, however, saw a bigger fall — from 86th to 104th. The 31.42Mbps UL speed is down to 23.65Mbps while the DL speed is down to 23.80Mbps.

United Arab Emirates(UAE) has passed South Korea with the fastest mobile internet connection in the world at 83.52Mbps DL speed vs 81.39Mbps. Singapore remains to be the number one in fixed broadband connection with its 197.26Mbps.
