nubia Neo 5 GT Gaming Review

nubia Neo 5 GT

We are back with the nubia Neo 5 GT, and today we take a closer look at its gaming performance.

However, due to limited storage, this article only has five games. We also used an IR thermometer to monitor temperatures and check whether the phone’s cooling system keeps thermals in control.

For better visualization, you can also check our gaming video review at the end of this article.

We also focused on three games that utilize the shoulder triggers, along with two graphically demanding titles.

Call of Duty: Mobile

Starting with Call of Duty Mobile, the settings were configured to Ultra frame rate with Low graphics.

On the home screen, there were some noticeable stutters when navigating menus, along with occasional frame drops when checking the events page.

However, during actual gameplay, the device delivered a consistent frame rate with no noticeable drops or stutters. The shoulder triggers were responsive and enhanced the overall experience. Even after extended playtime, heat was not noticeable during use.

FPS Result: 90 FPS (Low graphics with Ultra frame rate)

In terms of temperature, with Fast Cooling enabled, the reading was 38.5°C, while Balanced mode reached 39.7°C.

Delta Force

Next is Delta Force. Settings were set to Standard graphics with 90 FPS.

On the home screen, the frame rate is capped at 30 FPS, but once inside a match, it reaches up to 90 FPS despite the large map. Performance remained stable, with only minor drops during gunfights. Lower FPS was observed when selecting the deployment area, but it stabilized once gameplay began.

FPS Result: 87 to 90 FPS (standard graphics)

After one match, the temperature reached 40.8°C with Fast Cooling enabled. In Balanced mode, the IR thermometer could not capture a reading, but the in-game tracker showed around 42°C.

PUBG Mobile

For PUBG Mobile, settings were set to Smooth graphics with Extreme+ frame rate.

The device maintained smooth performance throughout, with no frame drops or stutters, both in menus and in-game.

Performance remained stable during traversal and gunfights. The shoulder trigger was also useful, especially since the game does not support one-tap ADS by default.

FPS Result: 90 FPS (Smooth graphics with Extreme+ frame rate)

Temperature after one match reached 42.5°C with Fast Cooling, and 42.8°C on Balanced mode.

Zenless Zone Zero

Moving on to Zenless Zone Zero, settings were set to Medium graphics with 60 FPS. Performance was generally stable, with acceptable frame rates during combat.

Some drops were observed, but the frame rate did not fall below 30 FPS. Overall responsiveness remained sufficient for dodges and parries.

FPS Result: around 34 to 50 FPS (Medium graphics)

Temperature reached 42.9°C with Fast Cooling enabled. On Balanced mode, the in-game tracker showed around 43°C.

Wuthering Waves

Lastly, we tested Wuthering Waves. Settings were set to the Balanced preset with 60 FPS. In combat scenarios such as the Tower of Adversity, performance was similar to Zenless Zone Zero, with occasional drops below 30 FPS.

A graphical bug was also encountered when activating Verina’s ultimate ability. During exploration, performance was significantly lower, with more frequent frame drops.

FPS Result: 24 to 40 FPS (combat); around 14 to 24 FPS (exploration)

Temperature reached 41.9°C with Fast Cooling enabled. On Balanced mode, the in-game tracker showed around 44°C.

Verdict

Overall, the nubia Neo 5 GT delivers gaming performance that exceeds expectations for its price segment.

The built-in cooling fan helps maintain consistent performance, even in demanding titles. For best results, using Fast Cooling is recommended.

The main downside is the noticeable fan noise, although this can be less distracting when using headphones or higher volume levels.

Price

The nubia Neo 5 GT is available in two configurations. The 12GB + 256GB is priced at PHP17,999, while the 12GB + 512GB costs PHP19,999.
