HMD Global’s Nokia Announces C, G, and X-Series Smartphones!

Not one. Not two. Not three, but six smartphones got announced tonight by HMD Global, the home of Nokia phones. This summer, we’re getting three lineups, namely the entry-level C-Series, the affordable G-Series, and the evolutionary X-Series. 

Nokia C10 and C20

Starting with the C-Series, Nokia C10 and C20 offer all-day battery life, 2 years of quarterly security updates, and a design that went tougher tests than the industry average in hardware durability. Both phones run Android 11 (Go Edition) with support up to Android 13. They share the same 6.5″ HD+ display with V-notch and 400 nits typical brightness. A 5MP selfie camera supports face unlock biometric and flash, alongside a 5MP rear snapper. The essential features are present, such as FM radio, dual-SIM with microSD slot, and a 3.55mm jack. The C-Series also brings a removable 3000mAh battery with 5W micro-USB charging. 

Nokia C10 is available in Light Purple and Grey colors and goes up to 2GB RAM and up to 16GB storage. It also comes with a starting price of €75(~PHP4,300). Meanwhile, Nokia C20 comes in Dark Blue and Sand with up to 2GB RAM and up to 32GB storage, and a starting price of €89(~PHP5,100).

Nokia G10 and G20

When it comes to the Nokia G-Series, the G10 and G20 offer 3-day battery life, 3 years of monthly security updates, and 2 years of OS upgrades. Although the display of the G-Series is identical to the C-Series, the rest of the hardware is upgraded. 

For starters, the G10 and G20 are sporting MediaTek G25 and G35, respectively. The memory configuration goes up to 4GB RAM and up to 64GB, but with the option of 128GB for the G20. The cameras on the G10 support 13MP main with 2MP macro and another 2MP depth, as well as 8MP on the front. And yes, the main camera utilizes Night Mode and Portrait Mode for creative shots. In the case of G20, the 2MP lenses and 8MP selfie stay, but the main sensor is now using a 48MP f/1.7 while joined by a 5MP ultrawide. The 5050mAh battery is non-removable and charges via USB-C at 10W. 

Lastly, the G-Series comes with an IPX2 rating and a dedicated Google Assistant button. 

Nokia G10 and G20 are priced at €139(~PHP8,000) and €169(~PHP9,700), respectively.

Nokia X10 and X20

HMD Global is now offering affordable 5G smartphones in 2021, thanks to the arrival of Nokia X10 and X20 with Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 5G SoC. They’re also paired with up to 128GB storage and up to 8GB RAM. 

The X-Series boasts a 2-day battery life, 3 years of monthly security updates, and 3 years of OS upgrades. 

Spec-wise, the X-Series comes with a 6.67″ FHD+ punch-hole display while delivering 450 nits of typical brightness. Zeiss optics make its debut again on the 48MP quad-camera system (64MP on the X20), with an 8MP selfie camera (32MP on the X20) to assist. The 4470mAh battery charges at 18W, while the port selection offers USB-C, 3.55m jack, and side-mounted fingerprint scanner. Unlike the G-Series, the X-Series offers IP52 dust and water resistance.

Nokia X10 has a starting price of €309(~PHP17,800), while the X20 is priced at €349(~PHP20,100).

Lastly, HMD Global announced the Nokia Lite Earbuds in Polar Sea and Charcoal colors. It features up to 36 hours of music playback, touch controls for music, voice assistant, and calls, and a pocket-size case design.

Regarding Philippine availability of the new Nokia phones and the earbuds, that’s yet to be announced.
