nubia V80 Design Gaming Review

We’re back with another gaming review, and today we’re testing the gaming capabilities of nubia’s latest budget-friendly offering, the nubia V80 Design.

Previously, we talked about its features and what it brings to the table, but this time, we’ll see how well it handles our usual lineup of games. Without further ado, let’s begin.

Mobile Legends

Upon launching Mobile Legends, the default preset was set to Custom, with most options on high. We pushed everything to the maximum available settings and tested it out.

Despite some slowdowns on the main menu, the in-game experience was surprisingly smooth.

There were no noticeable stutters or freeze frames. However, FPS dropped to around 60 during team fights. Still, the overall gameplay remained enjoyable and stable.

Mobile Legends (Max Settings):
• 88–90 fps outside of clashes
• 68–75 fps during clashes

League of Legends: Wild Rift

The default settings were set to Quality with a 30 fps cap. We switched to Custom and maxed out every option.

Right from the start, we experienced significant frame drops and stutters on both the opening sequence and the home screen.

During gameplay, the device struggled more compared to Mobile Legends. Occasional stutters and frame dips were noticeable, especially during team fights.

While the fps drop wasn’t drastic, the performance inconsistency could still be felt.

Wild Rift (Max Settings):
• 48–60 fps

Call of Duty: Mobile

CODM’s default settings were Low graphics paired with Medium frame rates. We raised the frame rate to High while keeping the graphics on Low. Gameplay during gunfights was smooth and consistent, with no stutters or freeze frames.

The home screen felt a bit sluggish due to the visual clutter, and after a few matches, the device began to warm up. Still, overall performance remained stable.

Call of Duty Mobile (Low Graphics + High FPS):
• 56–60 fps

Genshin Impact

For this graphically demanding title, we used the Lowest graphics settings with the fps set to 60.

Despite selecting 60 fps, the device only delivered around 30 fps and never surpassed the 40 fps mark.

The game was playable for basic content, but frame drops and stutters were quite noticeable. We don’t recommend attempting end-game content on this device.

Genshin Impact (Low + 60 fps):
• 28–34 fps

Zenless Zone Zero & Wuthering Waves

Both titles were essentially unplayable on the nubia V80 Design.

Zenless Zone Zero constantly crashed after the login screen.

Meanwhile, Wuthering Waves managed to load into the game, but severe frame drops made the experience unenjoyable.

Conclusion

Overall, the nubia V80 Design is not an ideal gaming device. While it delivered decent performance in lighter titles like Mobile Legends, Wild Rift, and Call of Duty Mobile, it still showed slowdowns and stability issues.

When it comes to competitive or graphically demanding games, there are far better options available in the same price range.

Still, if you’re satisfied with the level of performance it offers, this device might be enough for your needs.

The nubia V80 Design is priced at PHP 5,799 for the 4 GB + 256 GB configuration and PHP 7,299 for the 8 GB + 256 GB model.
