Apple Could Launch “AirPods Ultra” with Cameras For Siri

Apple is really getting into that “Ultra” branding, now with reports indicating that the company will launch an “AirPods Ultra” device equipped with cameras for Siri.

According to reports, the AirPods Ultra will be like the AirPods Pro 3, but with added cameras that will be used by the revamped and Gemini-powered Siri. The new Siri is expected to be revealed this year.

The cameras will not be used for typical capturing of photos and videos. Instead, the sensor will likely be infrared, which will use computer vision to provide Siri with information about the user’s environment. The AI will respond to the user’s inquiries in real time with contextual information about nearby items, landmarks, or text.

The camera should improve the Visual Intelligence feature on the iPhone 15 Pro and later models, while the camera sensor will allegedly be similar to the iPhone’s Face ID system’s infrared camera.

Reports also clarified that the AirPods Ultra will likely not support hand gestures. The device will also sit above the current AirPods Pro lineup.

The debut of the AirPods Ultra is expected this year, along with the release of iOS 27. It will join its other Ultra sibling—the upcoming iPhone Fold, which will probably be sold as the iPhone Ultra. Meanwhile, the rumored MacBook Ultra with an OLED display and touchscreen features is expected to follow by early 2027.

Apple has yet to reveal official information. Stay tuned for more updates.
