Dimensity 720 Announced for Asia, North America, and Europe
MediaTek is expanding yet again its 5G-capable SoCs with the introduction of the Dimensity 720, the newest member of its family. Much like the Dimensity 1000 5G flagship and Dimensity 800 series, it features the company’s power-efficient 5G with UltraSave technology, which uses both network and content awareness intelligence to manage the modem’s operating mode in real-time to extend battery life.
Some notably supported technologies of the Dimensity 720 is the faster UFS 2. It’s also paired with LPDDR4X RAM and Arm Mali G57 GPU. For the CPU, it sports two Arm Cortex-A76 big cores at 2GHz for the smoothest experience and six ARM Cortex-A55 at the same clock speed for power efficiency. The ISP now supports up to 4K@30fps, which is a welcome upgrade given that most mid-range MediaTek chipsets are capped at 1080p. As for the display, it seems like future phones will stretch the aspect ratio to 21:9 (2520 x 1080) for a cinematic experience. Of course, that comes with 90Hz refresh rate support.
