According to the same source who accurately reported the launch date of iPhone SE 2020, Apple is taking a new pricing strategy to the growing smartphone market. Instead of having three models, there will be four iPhone 12 handsets with only one of them getting a price increase. The base model which is the iPhone 12 will start at $649(~P32,800). It already features 5.4″ OLED display with two main cameras which are probably wide and ultrawide/telephoto. The smaller screen size indicates that it’s another addition to the series with better features but at an affordable price point. As for the rest of the three devices, here’s how it’ll look like.
The iPhone 12 6.1″ model will replace the iPhone 11 that retails for P47,990 today. It’ll also come with A14 Bionic that features 5G connectivity, alongside two main cameras. The starting price is said to be $749(~P37,900) which is $49 more than the $699 launch price of the iPhone 11. As for the iPhone 12 Pro, it has the same screen size as the smaller model but with three main cameras and the addition of a LiDAR sensor that debuted on the iPad Pro (2020). The device enters the sub-$1000 category as it’s tipped to start at $999(P~50,000). Last but not least is the 6.7″ iPhone 12 Pro Max. Like the iPhone 11 Pro Max, we expect the device to only have a bigger battery and screen while retaining the rest of the features. As for the price, it’s said to be $1099(P~55,000).
Given that iPhone 12 series won’t launch until September, the prices are not final. If the rumor is true, the Android market is going to have a tough competition against Apple as the company is providing flagship-level specs and performance from the premium mid-range to the flagship tier.
