iPhone SE 2020 Launches: The Cheapest iPhone 11 Starting at P26,490

Not the iPhone 9, but simply the iPhone SE. The newest iPhone replaces the iPhone 8 by sporting the same design but with the innards of the iPhone 11 Series. This means that this is the most powerful yet least expensive iOS device to get starting at P26,490 for the 64GB variant. The 128GB model is available for P30,490 while the 256GB will set you back at P36,490. Apple iPhone SE 2020 is available in your standard black and white colors, along with (PRODUCT)RED design. Availability in the Philippines remains to be seen but the device is already live on Apple’s website.

iPhone SE 2020 may not be for all but it surely is made for those who want an Apple logo on their next phone for less. Design-wise, it’s the same aluminum chassis that made iPhone iconic which means Touch ID is present as well as the thick bezels. Like the iPhone 8, it features an IP67 rating that lets you submerge the device in the water with a maximum depth of 1 meter up to 30 minutes. The 4.7″ Retina HD display may be underwhelming but it already supports P3 wide color gamut and 625nits brightness. Not to mention, Apple’s incredible color calibration. Furthermore, video playback supports HDR10 content.

The reason why we said iPhone SE 2020 is the cheapest iPhone 11 is because of the A13 Bionic chipset that features 3rd-gen Neural Engine. In other words, it’s as powerful as the latest iPhones and brings portrait mode and portrait lighting effects to the cameras. No Night Mode is the caveat, however. Given the “SE” moniker, the camera won’t break records as you only have a single 12MP f1.8 back camera and 7MP f2.2 front cam. However, the back cam can now record 4K@60fps with optical image stabilization. In terms of longevity, Apple claims that the new iPhone SE lasts about the same as iPhone 8. That means up to 13 hours playback, up to 8 hours of streaming video, and up to 50% charge in 30minutes with an 18W adapter. Unfortunately, Apple is still shipping its slow 5W charging brick.

What do you think of the Apple iPhone SE 2020? Is it something you’d buy this year?
