You must have linked your one missing AirPod with one of your Apple devices at some time in order to find it. Before we begin, make sure your Bluetooth is turned on and your device has the most recent software version loaded.

Locate the Airpod on the Find My App
- The Find My app allows you to check the position of your Airpod and get an idea of where it could be. It’s simpler to locate a misplaced AirPod if it’s within 15-30 feet of the Bluetooth range. If you lose an Airpod, keep the one you have inside the charging case and proceed as described below.1. Launch the Find My app.
- Navigate to the Devices tab.
- Find your Airpod and tap on it.
- Select the option to Play Sound. When you keep the remaining AirPods inside the case and close the lid, just the one on the outside will ring the sound.
- Select L if the missing Airpod is on the left, and R if it is on the right. This causes your Airpod to ring, which becomes louder over time. If you misplaced one of these nearby, the sound it makes will help you find it immediately. This option may not be accessible for all Airpods generations.
- When you discover it, press the Cross button.
Keep the Airpod inside the case, seal it, then refresh the map to see where you last stored the missing Airpod. If the lost Airpod is still online and within Bluetooth range when you relaunch it, it should display its position.
Note: The battery life of an Airpod is only a few hours. It may be difficult to locate your Airpod if the battery is dead.
Enable Notify When Left Behind
When you enable Left Behind mode, you will be notified if you leave your Airpod outside of Bluetooth range. Here’s how to go about it.
- Launch the Find My app.
- Navigate to the Devices tab.
- Find your Airpod and tap on it.
- Scroll down to Notifications and check the box for Notify When Left Behind.
- Select “Done”.
Using iCloud
When a device is linked with an Apple ID, iCloud stores all of the device’s data and activities, and you may use it to discover your missing phone and alter account settings as well as the other devices connected to the same Apple ID.
- Use your web browser to access iCloud Find.
- Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
- Select the All Devices option.
- Find your Airpod and tap on it.
