How to Block Spam Emails in Gmail

The endless stream of spam emails received through Gmail can be highly irritating. Not only that, but it may also result in an unnecessary waste of storage space.

Random IDs, newsletters, and promotional emails from brands you probably have not subscribed to.

Because there is a never-ending stream of spam, this can be a very laborious task. Gmail inbox is frequently clogged with spam messages, resulting in important dispatches getting lost in the clutter. If you, too, have to deal with unwanted emails on Gmail, then the following simple tricks will help you clear up your inbox and keep it free of spam.

Report and Unsubscribe Spam Emails

Go into your Gmail account and pick all the spam messages you wish to delete (careful not to choose any legitimate and vital emails).

Selecting the exclamation mark in the header allows you to choose between reporting spam or unsubscribing entirely.

If none of the shown IDs pertain to anything of importance, click the Report spam and unsubscribe link.

From this point on, you will not get any more emails from these addresses.

Filter Spam Email

To see a list of all the advertisements sent to your Gmail account, open the search bar.

Type unsubscribe

Check the boxes next to all these spam emails just in case a newsletter or essential mail is hiding there. Select Filter messages like this from the menu that appears after clicking the three dots.3 1

Select the Create Filter option and decide what to do with the incoming emails. Use the Create a filter feature and select the Delete it choice if you want these messages removed from your inbox immediately.

4

A notification bar will appear at the bottom when a filter is generated. Filtering such emails involves more than just erasing; you can also apply labels or mark them as read.

Use Temporary Email Address

Sharing your primary Gmail ID on unrelated websites exposes it to spammers.

Sometimes spam emails look authentic, and you may click on phishing links that could compromise your data.

Share a temporary Gmail ID instead of your primary one.

Visit temp-mail.org for temporary email addresses.

Copy the temporary email address and use it wherever you want to receive emails instead of your Gmail account. You can also create a Gmail ID for similar sites.

Your primary Gmail account will stay spam-free.
