Google knows that a great deal of their development will need to come from emerging markets, but due to data charges in surfing the web smartphone users are less likely to do so. Now google provide FREE Mobile Data on Select Apps.

In response, Google is bidding to zero rating mobile data cost. According to the latest report from The Information, Google is making data usage FREE on some apps for Android One devices.

Recently, Google talked with select app developers and wireless carriers in emerging markets like India about the company’s plan to reduce or eliminate the mobile-phone data costs using a practice called zero rating.

Data-plan costs prevent people from using mobile Web services and apps on Android-powered devices. With this, Google is aime at becoming broader, possibly allowing the users to access those app without any data charge by talking to third-party app developers.

The initiative will also result into a one-off deal partnership between the app developers, such as Facebook or WhatsApp, and wireless carriers. Both parties can then promote it to their customers.

Report adds that brands like Flipkart, Snapdeal, Redbus, and Ola Cabs are working with Google in India to get their apps “Zero Rate”. Google launched the Android One program in India in September last year, and expanded in Indonesia alongside three brand new handsets earlier this month. Reportedly, Google may have plans to push this program beyond the initial launch countries.

Aside from the goal of bringing more people online as to secure their future growth, the effort is also a scheme by Google to sell more Android One phones as potential rivals like Xiaomi and Cyanogen enter the emerging markets.
