The Google Pixel 7 Pro has officially entered the worldwide market, and its characteristics are just incredible. It has flagship-class hardware, a premium display, one of the greatest camera departments ever, and a large battery. Last but not least, it will be backed directly by Google, giving it one of the longest software support periods in history. Another long-lasting phone in terms of software support made its appearance a few days ago: the iPhone 14 Plus. It is not a Pro edition of the 14 series, but it is still a sophisticated flagship that, for the first time, replaces the Mini model in the iPhone flagship range. Given that its price is closer to the Pixel than the Pro iPhones from the latest series, many people are unsure which device to choose. Here is a comparison of the main specifications of the iPhone 14 Plus and the Google Pixel 7 Pro that will best answer this question.

Design

The Google Pixel 7 Pro has a more distinctive design. It is one of the market’s few flagships with a horizontal camera module. The phone is made of premium materials such as glass for the back and aluminum for the frame, and it is waterproof (IP68). The iPhone 14 Plus has a notch and a square-shaped camera module, similar to the iPhone 12 and 13 lineups, but it has a higher build quality. The back side is made of Ceramic Shield, the frame is made of aluminum, and the phone has better water resistance with the IP68 certification, allowing you to submerge it up to 6 meters deep for a maximum of 30 minutes. Do you prefer the Pixel’s original design or the iconic one of the latest Apple iPhone?

Display

Both phones have excellent screens. The Google Pixel 7 Pro features an AMOLED display with a diagonal of 6.7 inches, a higher Quad HD+ resolution of 1440 x 3120 pixels, LTPO technology that allows for an adaptable refresh rate of 1 to 120 Hz, HDR10+ certification, and a peak brightness of 1,500 nits. The iPhone 14 Plus features a 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with a Full HD+ resolution of 1284 x 2778 pixels, HDR10 certification, and Dolby Vision compatibility. What draws me to the Pixel is the existence of a high refresh rate, whereas the iPhone 14 Plus, although being a 2022 flagship, still has a 60 Hz refresh rate. To unlock the phone, the Google flagship includes an in-display fingerprint reader, whereas the iPhone depends on Face ID, which is 3D face recognition.

Camera

When it comes to photography, the Google Pixel 7 Pro outperforms the iPhone 14 Plus. It features three sensors on the back: a 50 MP primary camera with OIS, a 48 MP telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom, and a 12 MP ultrawide camera. The iPhone 14 Plus features only two 12 MP sensors: the primary camera and an ultrawide lens, and no telephoto lens. There is absolutely no difficulty.

Specs & Performance

In terms of hardware and performance, these two phones are not that dissimilar. The Google Pixel 7 Pro is equipped with the new Google Tensor G2 chipset, which is manufactured using a 5 nm process and features an octa-core architecture that includes two Cortex X2 CPUs running at a maximum frequency of 2.85 GHz, two Cortex A78 CPUs running at 2.35 GHz, three Cortex A55 CPUs running at 1.8 GHz, and a Mali G710 MC10 GPU. The iPhone 14 Plus has a proprietary Apple A15 Bionic processor designed with the same manufacturing process and octa-core architecture, but with two Avalance CPUs operating at 3.23 GHz, four Blizzard CPUs running at 1.82 GHz, and an Apple 5-core GPU. This SoC includes 6 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of native storage. Given that the Pixel runs Android 13 and the iPhone 14 Plus runs iOS 16, having only 6 GB of RAM is not a disadvantage.

Battery

The Google Pixel 7 Pro has a larger 5000 mAh battery on board, however, the iPhone 14 Plus can last longer in many cases due to greater iOS operating system efficiency.

Price & Availability

The Google Pixel 7 Pro starts at $799 (around Php46,390) in the United States, while the iPhone 14 Plus starts at Php63,990. The Google Pixel 7 Pro wins this comparison because of its superior cameras and rapid refresh rate, although many individuals may prefer the iPhone because of iOS, better build quality, and longer battery life.
