With the holiday season fast approaching, text-based scams are on the rise, targeting consumers during the peak of online shopping and digital transactions.
In response, Globe has rolled out a new feature on its GlobeOne app called SMS Scam Shield, designed to protect subscribers from phishing and spoofed text messages.
The tool, available for Android users, detects suspicious messages that may contain harmful links or use fake sender names such as “GLOBE,” “GLOBEREWARD,” or “GCASH.”
Once enabled, the feature scans messages locally on the user’s device and sends an alert if a potential scam is found.

Globe said the system works without reading or storing personal messages, and only collects harmful links to improve detection.
Since its launch, more than 34,000 users have activated SMS Scam Shield, with over 13,000 phishing texts already flagged.

Globe added that the feature is free to use and can be activated through the GlobeOne app.
Users can also report scam messages through Globe’s website. Have you activated yours?
