Two devices called flagship smartphones: a budget offering for half the price of the high-end, while the other is a premium device. Which one from Asus Zenfone 2 or Samsung Galaxy S6 is worth your every penny? Go find out below.
Table of Contents
Design
The Zenfone 2 is solid phone, it’s heavy and thick. It sits on the phablet category, perhaps one of the heaviest at its screen size line. But despite its massive size, Asus managed to deliver a very good looking slab of metal-ish phone that could be recognized as a flagship.
Samsung went from plastic to glass and metal this time. In my opinion, the Galaxy S6 was inspired by the Xperia Z line-up and iPhone 6. Metal frame is rounded and the all-glass front and back is familiar in Xperia. We can now consider Samsung having a tue premium smartphone, the Galaxy S6.
Display
For cost-cutting, Asus went to a standard IPS FHD (1080x1920pixels) screen on Zenfone 2 1080p with average quality. Its clear but not as bright and sharp as on the QHD of Galaxy S6 especially in outdoor or bright scenes. I can’t complain anymore because its price is already a bargain.
The Korean-giant is a top contender in display industry, they have cutting-edge technology on their TVs. It’s similar on their high-end tablet and smartphone offerings. The Galaxy S line-up utilizes the sharpest and most advanced mobile AMOLED display. And it’s hard to match especially by iPhone 6.
Camera
Both shooters are reliable in the field. We found mixed results from the two. Pictures on S6 are warmer while Zenfone 2 has more contrast to its shots. The rest we got almost the same sharpness and clarity in images.
See the difference in the images below.
Performance
In terms of basic multitasking, the Exynos 7420 can beat the Intel Atom of Zenfone 2 anytime. But Zenfone 2’s speed is impressive given the fact that its price is just half of the Galaxy S6.
Speaker
It’s Galaxy S6 all the way. Its speaker is louder, stronger and clearer than Zenfone 2’s. You can check on the video comparison for the actual test.
