A collaborative product of three universities and 42 enterprises, the Tianjin solar car made its first appearance at the sixth World Intelligence Conference before traveling across the mainland. A total of 47 advanced technologies are incorporated into the production process, including several considered highlights among top-tier cars.
The solar-powered EV made in China has the capability of autonomous driving at level 4 and above, just like any Tesla car. In addition, compared to Lightyear SEV’s 5-square meter solar panels, Tianjin has larger 8.1 square meter panels than Lightyear SEV’s 5-square meter solar plates.
The Tianjin solar card also has several other notable features, including:
- On sunny days, 7.6 kWh of power can be generated
- Batteries with a 330Wh/kg energy density
- Max range tested: 74.8 km (47 miles)
- Max speed of 79.2km/h (49mph)
- Reduced carbon emissions to 25 kg/100km (55 lbs./62 miles)
- Dimensions of the car were 4,080mm by 1,770mm by 1,811mm (13.4 x 5.8 x 5.9 ft.).
- The wheelbase of 2,850 mm (9.4 feet)
