With industry and government cooperating to encourage the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in the Philippines, the electric vehicle (EV) market continues to grow. It is estimated that P1.68 B ($33.6 M) in revenue will come from services and sales of 200,000 vehicles by 2024, according to the Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines (EVAP).

It makes a lot of sense to switch to EVs from traditional fuel-powered vehicles, especially given today’s outrageous gas prices. Thus, the number of EVs sold in the Philippines is increasing slowly and surely.

Philippine law regulates electric vehicles to keep up with the trend. In addition, different public and private entities are beginning to build charging stations.

SM Supermalls is one of the firms that has started to install charging stations for electric vehicles in its malls. Since SM is one of the biggest shopping malls in the country, their initiative to promote EVs will surely help make this market more mainstream.
