LTO Receives First Batch of Driver’s License from New Supplier

Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II started his new job as head of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) today, July 25. He takes over with 5,000 fewer unfinished projects, because one of his first tasks after being sworn in was to get the first batch of blank driver’s license cards from the new supplier.

Banner Plasticard has already sent out at least 5,000 of the one million blank driver’s license cards it will send out in the next 60 days. On July 19, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said that there were 130,000 driver’s licenses that had not been given because there weren’t enough cards. It also said that it expected the backlog to be cleared and the supply of cards to return to normal by September.

In April, the agency made driver’s licenses that were set to expire between April 24 and October 31. These Driver License are good until October 31, or until blank license cards were again available.

At the time, the leftover blank cards were set aside for Filipinos who worked abroad. In the meantime, everyone else should show their e-driver’s licenses, which can be viewed if needed through the LTMS portal.
