Yesterday, Ivan John Uy, the secretary of the DICT, told media, “We’re on target.”

As of July 24
  • 49,990,446 people had signed up with Smart Communications
  • 48,378,674 people had signed up with Globe Telecom
  • 7,548,724 people had signed up with DITO Telecommunity.

This means that registration has been done for 63 percent of all SIM cards in the country.

DICT emphasized that after the deadline, unregistered users will no longer be able to use their SIM cards. It’s going to be a more tedious process to reactivate.

Uy also said that only 70 percent of SIM card registrations could be real because some users have more than one SIM card.
