Tecno Pop 5 Pro vs Tecno Pop 6 Pro — Specs Comparison

TECNO is not a well-known name in the worldwide market, but it is one of the most prominent smartphone makers in India, which is presently the largest market in China. This brand’s latest ultra-low-cost smartphone, the Tecno Pop 6 Pro, made its debut in the Asian peninsula a few days ago. Its main selling feature is undoubtedly its extremely low price since this is one of the most affordable products on the market produced this year. However, the forerunner of this device, the Tecno Pop 5 Pro, debuted earlier this year, in January. Several folks are perplexed since the predecessor appears to have several superior specs to the current model. This is what prompted us to write about these two phones. This is a comparison of the specs of the Tecno Pop 6 Pro and the Tecno Pop 5 Pro to help you decide which one is better for your personal needs.

Design

When it comes to design, the Tecno Pop 6 Pro is unquestionably my favorite, and I believe most people would prefer it over its predecessor. Why am I saying this? Simply said, it seems more contemporary and unique than the previous model. It boasts more fascinating color possibilities, a wonderful pattern, and a more attractive camera module on the backside. But there is another key question: it is much slimmer than the previous generation since it has a smaller battery. The fifth-generation gadget is rather thick because of its massive battery. Last but not least, the latest model has a larger screen-to-body ratio. The Tecno 5 Pro has a rear-mounted fingerprint reader, whilst the Tecno Pop 6 Pro has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. Are these benefits enough to sway your decision?

Display

The specs of these two devices’ screens differ somewhat, but when it comes to visual quality, it is practically a tie and they provide comparable quality. They are standard low-end panels with poor color reproduction but adequate detail for everyone. They are not intended to be viewed in direct sunlight, although the brightness is enough. The Tecno Pop 5 Pro sports a 6.52-inch diagonal IPS LCD display with an HD+ resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels and a peak brightness of 480 nits. The Tecno Pop 6 Pro features an IPS LCD display with a 6.56-inch diagonal, an HD+ resolution of 720 x 1612 pixels, and a peak brightness of 480 nits. As you can see, they are nearly identical, with just two minor changes in the diagonals and resolutions.

Camera

When it comes to camera departments, there is no distinction. The Tecno Pop 6 Pro and Tecno Pop 5 Pro include a dual back camera with an 8 MP primary sensor and an f/2.0 focal aperture, as well as a QVGA secondary sensor for depth information computation. These phones include a 5MP selfie camera housed in a waterdrop notch and combined with an intriguing front-facing LED flash.

Specs & Performance

The same mobile platform powers these two devices. We’re talking about MediaTek’s entry-level Helio A22 chipset. It is a 12 nm SoC with a quad-core architecture made of four Cortex A53 CPUs running at a maximum frequency of 2 GHz and a PowerVR GE8320 GPU. It is currently one of the cheapest mobile platforms available, therefore you should not anticipate particularly great performance from these two phones. The earlier Tecno Pop 5 Pro has more RAM, reaching 3GB, however, the current Tecno Pop 6 Pro only has 2GB. Do not ask us why we made this decision. The internal capacity on each of these phones is the same: 32GB, and they can be increased further with the use of a micro SD slot. The software versions differ: the 5 Pro comes with Android 11 Go Edition, whilst the 6 Pro comes with Android 12 Go Edition. As a result, you should receive greater software optimization using the latter. However, given the smaller amount of RAM, we expect the older model to perform better, particularly in multi-tasking tasks.

Battery

The Tecno Pop 5 Pro has a larger battery, a massive battery: with a capacity of 6000 mAh, it is one of this year’s greatest battery phones. However, owing to its 5000 mAh battery, the Tecno Pop 6 Pro falls short in terms of battery life.

Price & Availability

The Tecno Pop 5 Pro is priced at at Rs. 7,800 (around Php5,592) in India, while the Tecno Pop 6 Pro is priced at Rs. 5,999 (roughly Php4,300). Despite being an older model with outdated software, the Tecno Pop 5 Pro wins the comparison due to its more RAM and larger battery.
